The Dogs of the AKC/Eukanuba Dog Show

A week at a dog show is a long time to have to absorb everything a show the size and magnitude of the AKC/Eukanuba National Championship has to offer –  and I haven’t. The first two days home were spent in a coma-like sleep, but now comes the hard part: Making sense not of what I saw, but of what my “radar” has been telling me. While I figure out why I think we may be at a tipping point in our sport, I’ve thrown together a quick video that doesn’t begin to do justice to the dogs I saw in Orlando. Let’s face it. Mary Bloom, Lisa Croft-Elliot, or Jeff Hanlin, I’m not. That I even figured out how to take the lens cap off my new camera tried for the very first time at Eukanuba is, I think, a good start, but mastering this Sony wonder-camera is a daunting task. Go easy on me.

The next several blogs will be sharing my Eukanuba experience. Until then…….

you did a good job of working within your camera’s capabilities (or you threw a lot out LOL), but I want to hear more about the icebar :)

I threw out a lot. When I see the amazing photographs YOU take, Lynda, I’d be thrilled to come even remotely close. I need a Vulcan mind meld with you.

No, Peggy, thank YOU for overlooking the out-of-focus shots and rough edges. I really do appreciate your kindness!

Great pics. Where did you get the music from? Recently bought a camcorder and looking for cute audio to add to video.

Thanks, Shelly. I do exhaustive searches for copyright and royalty free music – just put in a Google search using those words and have fun exploring!

Isn’t that the truth? I know it sounds a bit strange, but all I could think of as I looked at each of these dogs, so wondrous in their difference from other breeds, was how huge the loss would be if the animal rights people have their way. I could have wept.

I love them all too, Betty, from the rich history each breed has to the emotional significance it means to its country of origin. Like you, I hope we never lose them.
